The City of Perth (The City) covers the neighbourhoods of Central Perth, West Perth, Nedlands and Crawley, Northbridge, East Perth and Claisebrook. The City has responsibility of reviewing and determining development applications within the municipality. The City requires a panel of experts to provide independent design advice and is looking to renew the pool of members for its current Design Review Panel (Panel).
The Panel is a multi-disciplinary panel of experienced built environment professionals that provides independent advice to decision makers and proponents on request for Bonus Plot Ratio and the design quality of significant development applications, city-led projects and strategic planning matters.
Expressions of interest are invited for qualified and experienced built environment professionals to join the City of Perth Design Review Panel from 1 January 2025 through to 31 December 2026.
Panel Members are sought from a range of disciplines including, but not limited to:
- Planning
- Architecture
- Landscape architecture
- Urban design
- Heritage architecture
- Sustainability and environmental design
- Transport planning
- Land tenure and strata titling
Review sessions will be held monthly at Council House, 27 St Georges Terrace, Perth. This will usually occur on a Thursday afternoon from 2pm to 5pm, but may be adjusted based on City requirements and availability. A Panel of members will be established, with up to six (6) Panel members selected for each session based on their area of expertise and availability.
Panel members will be remunerated for their time at an hourly rate of $250 to a maximum of three (3) hours per session plus one (1) hour preparation time. Panel members will be required to abide by the City’s Terms and Conditions, relevant policies and procedures. Panel members will be set up as Suppliers to the City, and following any engagement will issue an invoice to the City for services rendered.

Applications will be assessed against the following criteria:
- Professional qualifications, expertise and experience that will contribute to the City of Perth Design Review Panel.
- Ability to critically analyse, evaluate, and provide feedback on complex design quality issues.
- Existing knowledge in, or ability to quickly understand the City Planning Scheme including its Bonus Plot Ratio Policy and State Planning Policy 7.0 – Design of the Built Environment Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Able to understand and abide by probity requirement, including abiding by confidentiality requirements and managing conflict of interest
